Nail Conditions

Most minor injuries to the nail will heal – usually quite slowly – on their own. However, more serious problems may require treatment by a dermatologist who specialises in nail disorders.

There can be changes in the appearance or health of the nail due to fungal infections, certain skin diseases or a nutritional deficiency. Symptoms can include changes to the colour and shape, swelling of the surrounding skin, or the appearance of increased lines, pitting or ridging in the nail itself. Nail problems can also be indicative of general health problems.

Dr David Fenton will carry out a thorough physical examination, pathological tests or any other investigations necessary to determine the underlying cause and then prescribe a treatment plan.
